Say Hello to My New Friend, "Eve"

Eve

It's been 4 years since I bought my old white MacBook (It's was my first Mac ever), and I thought it's finally time to move forward.

So I bought a new MacBookPro! 2011 February released, Intel Quad-core i7 2.0MHz, Refurbished model. I can't tell how much excited I am!

I was so excited and gave her a name. it's "Eve". took from the Pixar movie "Wall-E".

I'm looking forward to the journey I'll have with her for next few years. Let's make a history together Eve!

What I was missing about the iPad

I finally watched the whole iPad announcing keynote yesterday, and realized something different.

Have you figured out what Steve Jobs emphasized most? It was not the hardware technology, it was not the gorgeous iWorks software or the iBook, it was the prize.

The prize starts from $499, And it is a breakthough. They seemed to put all of the efforts to reach down to that prize. And that's the main reason why the iPad is missing all the features we expected. (I mean hardware-wise)

What that means? The ACCESSIVILITY. iPad is not for the people like you and me. (You know what I mean by that) It's for the people who doesn't own a laptop maybe, or who doesn't do anything except surfing the web, playing games, watching videos or listening to music, even if they own a laptop or a pc. Steve Jobs already gave each of them a very attractive device which they "have to own" because it's a "phone", and made them to learn how to use it, and he finally revealed a device in front of their faces which is just right for them. They don't ever need to learn how to use it.

See, the iPad sales will be higher than we thinking. And we tech geeks
and developers will have more chances to make people to live a fun and better life, with the device.

My first impression of Apple iPad

Now, finally the Apple tablet has been released. It's officially called "iPad" (the name is also being a target of sarcasm)

The hype was really huge, and I also was one of the victims, so a lot of people may have disappointed by the real product. And it's true, It was not as huge as I thought. But as I'm watching many informations about it, I feel it's very reasonable and very Apple-ish.
I was disappointed by the lack of camera also, but it would not be reasonable if it had. it'll be good for a video chat, but no one will take pictures or videos with an 10-inch device.

However, apps for iPad will have a lot of advantages, You can do even more than iPhone apps with a big screen. There will make many other new business models I think.
And this is just a start. This new product will make a new industry. iPad is the first tablet device which has the OS specialized only for touch interface like iPhone, so in my opinion, after a few years touch-based device will be main stream and iPad may be the start of the era.

But I still wonder. will someone be carrying iPhone, iPad, and a MacBook together? iPad cannot alternative iPhone or MacBook yet, so we should be watching how high will the sales go up. But you know, it's Apple. it's very pretty and attractive.

iPhone, AT LAST

iPhone, AT LAST

Since iPhone launched 3 years ago, I've been waiting for it so
desperatly to be able to use it. But it has been just an illusion or
dream for me and other "iPhone waiters" in Korea. All we could do was
just imagining how amazing it is by news and dwell with iPod Touch.
After thousands of rumors which makes us exhausted, The One finally
came to us. On this November, iPhone released in Korea. I still can't
believe that it's true because I've been deceived so many times.

And undoubtedly I've got it on my hands. I evaluted for few days
because I bought the Nokia phone 2 months ago, but in the end I
couldn't resist. I had to pay the penalty for breaking the contract
but I'm sure this little fella worth much more than that. It's far
beyond than I thought it would be, and I'm happy with it these days.

Korean smart phone market should and will be changed by this event.
Korean users should also experience the greatness, and try to see
beyond it. The smart phone war will be started soon.

I think I didn't mention that I wrote this article with my iPhone too. :)

About Snow Leopard

Snow_leopard

I've purchased the new Apple Mac OSX "Snow Leopard" on last Friday (the day it was released) and installed in on Monday. Now I'm using it for 4 days, And here's what I felt about it.

There's no big changes in appearance. QuickTime has been upgraded slickly, and few sensitive UI changes on dock and finder, and other basic apps. That's pretty much all.

But if we go inside, as the New York Times journalist David Pogue descried, Apple did some unique upgrade this time. instead of adding new features, they actually shrank it. They compressed and lightened the previous OS so that it became more fast, and occupy half the size.

In my thought, Apple's products are getting close to "perfect". So there's nothing to be improved at this moment, they're just polishing it on and on. MacBook did the same, and now the OSX did. I think it's very positive way to make products.

And other one thing that I found out and surprised was, that Apple's OS doesn't have any anti-pirating method. They sell the software, and the customers are allowed to install the software to only 1 Mac, but if they intend to, they can install it to as many Macs as they want! It's so called "honor system". They just believe customers. And they even sell the Family Pack which can be installed to 5 Macs! I think those 2 packages are just same! It was even a little shock to me. I also bought the software for $29 (45,000 won), but I'm not regretting it. Actually I'm proud of it. Maybe that's the power of Apple.
